There is a conference on saturday 19th September 2015 at the St. Mary’s Centre 80-82 Corporation Road Middlesbrough TS1 2RW . Time 11am to 4pm. Food and Drinks are provided.
The conference is organised by Cultures CIC and in conjunction with Teesside University and Kaizen Partnership will deliver talks and workshops on issues around the gaps between Young People and Parents. The guest speakers are: Hanna Ehela, Temilade Ladokun, Edward Kunongo and Andy Stokes .
The format for the day will involve parents and children meeting with a variety of service providers, a Q&A session with experts in various fields such as health and social care and listening to a number of guest speakers including. Young people attending the conference will also participate in a leadership skills workshop with Kaizen. Towards the end of the day both parents and young people will come together for an open discussion.
The workshops cover:
Education – Understanding educational authorities and positive role models.
Cultural Differences: Understanding the British; Education system, Social services, Employment and Health services.
Leadership: Leadership skills for Young People.
Understanding: Helping Young People and Adults to better understand each other views.
Challenges: Helping parents to understand the pressures affecting Young People in the UK.
Heart to Heart : Discussion between Young People and Adults to identify how understanding can be improved and progress forward.
There is also a Question and Answer session for parents to ask service providers.
